    Description

American Silver Mounted Naval dirk, circa 1820. A known form, generally associated with the Baltimore/Philadelphia area, also called "Baltimore Style" dirk.
Double edged blade with median ridge. Elaborate all silver hilt with serrated edge on cross guard. All silver scabbard. Overall length 8.5".  The iv
    оrу
grip is in very good condition, which is very rare for these dirks.
This dirk has shown in illustration 5.47 on pg. 220 of the “U.S. NAVAL OFFICERS, THEIR SWORDS AND DIRKS” by Peter Tuite, and on pg. 61 of the "Small Arms of the Sea Services" by Robert H. Rankin, see pics.  These small dirks were optional, and what the officer could afford. Not many officers during that time period (small numbers) who were also able to afford one during the early 1800s. Good condition for a 200 year old dirk.
Guaranteed 100% original or your money back.
