There are two basic types of traditional straight-leaf swords used in China. One, the Wen Jian or Scholar’s Sword, is very light and takes mainly for self-defense. The other, known as Wu Jian or martial sword, is longer and heavier and is handled by warriors.
After an extensive study of the history and use of Wu Jian, Cold Steel® decided to make his own Battleworthy Gim for serious collectors and Chinese martial arts practitioners.
Cold Steel® Gim blade is forged in 1060 high carbon steel and heat treated by experts. With two sharp edges and a strong and useful tip, the Gim is as elegant as it is effective. Traditional protection and knob are made of thick brass and fit perfectly into a beautiful rosewood handle.
The Gim Sword comes with a wooden sheath with brass collar, chape and sword rings, so it can be used suspended from the belt or hung from the shoulder.
