    Description

The falcata is a type of knife, a steel sword originating in Iberia, and therefore related to the native Iberian populations prior to the Roman conquest. It was widely used among the Iberian peoples, or the Celtiberians bordering the former, being the most common sword in the area of the Peninsula.
The quality of the iron used for the construction of Hispanic weapons was praised by the Roman chroniclers, who were surprised by its cutting capacity and flexibility, one of the most valued and sought-after characteristics in its manufacture.
As a curious note that reflects the effectiveness of these weapons is the fact that, after the first battles in the Iberian Peninsula, the Roman troops were ordered to reinforce the edges of their shields with iron, possibly to counteract the cutting power. of falcatas, far superior to that of straight swords and sabers.
